Changing cat food

When changing your cat’s food, it’s important to do this slowly over many days to prevent tummy upset, diarrhoea and vomiting.

Many people start gung-ho on a new pet food, only to find their cat experiences bouts of unpleasant gastro symptoms. They blame the food and switch back, when in fact if they’d just taken it slowly the cat’s digestive system would have adapted nicely.

Day 1-2

Day 3-4

Day 5-6

Day 7

It’s recommended to take around a week when changing a cat’s diet. On days 1-2, use 25% new food to 75% existing food, on days 3-4, feed 50% of each, on days 5-6 feed 75% new cat food, on day 7 onwards use only the new food.

Following this advice will save you and your kitty a lot of uncomfortable outcomes!
